Shamanism and the Spirits of Nature

From ancient times, shamans have worked with the spirits of nature for healing, survival, and knowledge. By learning from the plants and animals, from the rocks and mountains, from the winds and waters, and from the sun, moon, and stars, shamans helped their peoples live in harmony with the universe.

In a world now out of balance, the way of the shaman can teach how again to respect nature, our Earth, and its inhabitants at a deep spiritual level. As our ancestors everywhere once knew, our survival depends on the survival of the other species. By working together intensively through shamanic journeys and other spiritual experiences, we will dedicate ourselves to working in both non-ordinary and ordinary reality to restore and maintain a living planet.

Prerequisite

• Completion of The Way of the Shaman® in-person

• All three of the following FSS online workshops:

  • Shamanic Divination in Practice
  • Shamanism, Spirits, and Healing

What to Bring

• Rattle and/or drum
• Notebook and pen for note-taking
• Blindfold, eye covering, bandana, or Mindfold®
• Comfortable clothing and warm socks
• Blanket and/or cushion (optional)
• Packed lunch (optional)

• All FSS workshops and training programs are experiential, interactive, and participatory. They feature instruction and practice with shamanic methodologies, as well as journeywork, shamanic drumming, group sharing, and small group discussions.

This is the classic introductory workshop in shamanism, developed by anthropologist Michael Harner decades ago and now experienced by tens of thousands of students worldwide. The workshop introduces Core Shamanism, a powerful methodology based on common and universal features of shamanism that are not culturally-specific.

The workshop focuses on the shamanic journey: a remarkable visionary practice used to access non-ordinary reality for healing, problem solving, obtaining knowledge, and building spiritual power. Aided by shamanic drumming, a safe and effective means of altering consciousness, workshop participants will embark on shamanic journeys to explore other worlds and meet compassionate helping spirit teachers and power animals.

Prerequisite:
The Way of the Shaman® (in-person workshop) is required for all other FSS in-person workshops.

What to Bring

• Rattle and/or drum.
• Notebook and pen for note-taking.
• Blindfold, eye covering, bandana, or Mindfold®.
• Comfortable clothing and warm socks.
• Blanket and/or cushion (optional).
• Packed lunch (optional).
• A rough-surfaced, grapefruit-sized rock (not a crystal), new to you, and preferably found in nature. Remember where you found it so you can return it with respect and thanks.

A few of the frequently used shamanic healing practices are:

• Shamanic divination. Involves seeking guidance from helping spirits to gain clarity and information on life’s challenges.

• Power Animal Retrieval. Is a shamanic practice where you reconnect with a helping spirit known as a power animal, to restore power, protection, compassion and strength in your life.

• Shamanic Extraction Healing.  The removal of spiritual attachments that do not belong and drain us of power and energy.

• Power Soul Retrieval. The reintegrating pieces of a person’s soul that may have been lost due to trauma or difficult experiences, restoring vitality and strength.

• Shamanic drum healing. The healing power of helping spirits to pass through the drum to the client.

• Passing of Power. The flow of power from helping spirits to the client.

*Sessions are typically 90 minutes in duration and may consist of one or more treatments. The cost is $95.00 per session which includes 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax).
